7/5/2023 0 Comments Jam ben croshaw![]() ![]() On the constructive criticism side, our first person narrator could have greatly benefited from some characterization-he feels a little uninteresting and his personality fails to come across-though this could be stylistic as his audience of gamers will be familiar with the silent protagonist of video-game history. Yahtzee does a good job of promising action and we see some early payoffs in the sample. I’m still not sure I’ll buy it, but I may check it out at the library. I finished the sample and generally liked what I read. ![]() I’ve also read a webcomic series he wrote and found it quite enjoyable. I watch his reviews fairly regularly and am aware he has a discerning taste for good narrative. ![]() It is written by internet personality Ben “Yahtzee” Croshaw, who is best known for his snarky videogame reviews. Gamble’s attorney, Suzanne McKie, confirmed that a complaint of sexual harassment and sex discrimination was filed but declined further comment. The sky isn’t the sky – it’s a giant dome with lighting orchestrated by Ed Harris. Basically, if you’ve seen the movie The Truman Show, it’s exactly like that. The boys fall into an underground world built to resemble their own. Theory #2: The Truman Show-esque Civilization Theory ![]() Oh, and what’s that on the first page of the book? An apple tree? *cue crazy guy voice* GARDEN OF EDEN ANYONE?! Thus when the dog/Jesus digs down at the end of the book, the boys land in purgatory. In this theory, the dog that accompanies Sam and Dave is Jesus, trying to lead the boys in the right direction (notice that the dog is always pointing the way to reach the jewels), yet they don’t listen and end up missing the precious stones every time. I will now present six theories on what exactly happens at the end of Sam and Dave Dig a Hole, from least likely to most likely. Really, one of the best open-ended picture book conclusions in recent memory. It has some excellent broad humor, as well as one heck of a challenging ending that will make readers think. ![]() 7/4/2023 0 Comments Team of rivals review![]() The method worked and in the end, they were able to hold the country together and bring it out of the Civil War. Lincoln was better able to watch and control their intrigues by having them close by and busy utilizing their talents. It was under intense pressure that Lincoln was able to create a coalition which bound the team and brought out the best of each member. However, during the course of the presidency, they grew to appreciate the genius that brought them together. Each of these cabinet members with their enormous egos once viewed Lincoln with contempt for what they saw as an uneducated country bumpkin with little political experience, no social connections, and no money. Not only does she portray their upbringing and determined personalities, but she also displays to readers their machinations and political ambitions. In The Turn of the Key, I got a fairly satisfying hybrid between atmospheric James and contemporary feminist gothic. Westaway that I wanted to try one of her books.
